I recommend that all children start with a 5-pack of lessons, which means I'll swim with your child Monday through Friday. This lets me learn your child's strengths and weaknesses, and gives your child time to get to know me and trust me enough to feel confident learning the techniques necessary to swim.
At the end of each week, we'll discuss what to practice over the weekend. Based on comfort and progress, we'll decide how many lessons are needed the following week. The goal is to gradually reduce the number of lessons as your child meets specific skills.
It's common for young children to cry for a week or two until they become familiar with me — consistency is key. Once they understand the routine, they usually start to trust me. I teach through songs and play, so they think we're playing with toys and singing songs, but in reality they're learning essential, life-saving swimming skills.
The most common question I hear is: how long will it take my child to learn to swim? That depends on your child and their willingness. I teach them all the skills to swim, float, and save their own lives — it's up to them to put it all together.
I've been teaching for over a decade and have taught hundreds of kids. During the school year I'm a preschool teacher, so I work with young children every day and understand how to communicate with them very well. It's the most amazing feeling knowing I'm helping save lives.
